New Ideas

Archeopteryx with solar cell wings, Panamerenko 1991

New ideas, dreams and wild imaginings that emerge from the conversations at the symposium and on this blog will be documented here.

An idea does not have to be achievable to have value to the imagination – just a sense of potential, a germ of possibility, a kind of beauty, From this tiny point all manner of experiments and initiatives can emerge, each uniquely responsive to its context.

Photosynthesis Robot is a three-dimensional sketch of a possible perpetual motion machine driven by phototropism- the movement of plants towards the direction of the sun. The motion of the plants upon this four wheeled vehicle would propel it forward slowly over a period of time. Amy Franceschini, Michael Swaine
